About Me

Hello! I'm currently a junior at Iowa State University, pursuing a Bachelor's in Software Engineering. My interest in programming started when my dad introduced me to website development in 5th grade, and what began as curiosity quickly grew into a passion. After building a foundation in Python and Java during high school, I've since taken on more advanced coursework and hands-on projects at Iowa State, where I've had the chance to collaborate with talented peers and bring ideas to life.

Over the past few years, I have built Java projects that apply advanced algorithms and data structures, developed responsive web apps with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and designed both relational and NoSQL databases using MySQL and MongoDB. I have also worked on hackathon and team projects, such as building an animal prescription lookup tool for pharmacists and designing a study group app that challenged me to quickly learn SpringBoot while addressing scalability and usability concerns. These experiences have strengthened not only my technical skills, but also my ability to think creatively, adapt to new tools, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Experience

Relevant experience in software projects and student organizations

Farm-aceutical Fix

I participated in the BuildDSM V1 hackathon with the theme of vet medicine, as part of a team of four. We developed a React application that provided easy navigation to information on animal prescriptions using the FDA Green Book. Our project's technical complexity and innovative approach earned us the 'Best Technical Build' award.

Weather Prediction

I have struggled with finding accurate weather predictions for free, so I wrote a Java program to train neural networks, sometimes referred to as AI. Tracking performance of networks through training to determine successes and failures of training, and then improve my training methods based on that data.

Study Buddy

This android application aims to allow for students to join groups, message members in the group, create events, and rsvp. The app used a SpringBoot back which I used to communicate with front end and the SQL server in the back end. Due to my effort and can do attitude in this project I was awarded Best Heart.

Class Projects

There are many projects that I am not publishing due to them being completed as part of coursework. There are some of my univerity projects, however, that are not on standard rubrics, and thus can be seen in my portfolio below.

Developer Group

The Developer Group is a Club that aims to helping members grow their skills in new and emerging technologies alongside soft skills. My role is to plan meetings, help distribute work among club leadership, and lead a portion of the meetings.
